3-Star MD DT D'Von Ellies had a fantastic visit taking in all he could at UNC over the weekend.

D'Von Ellies, a 3-star class of 2019 defensive tackle, was on hand for North Carolina’s season opener last weekend against California, and despite the Tar Heels coming up short he was fairly impressed with what he saw.

"I had a great time," he told THI. "I was very happy with the environment and the hospitality that was shown to me and it really made me feel at home."

Ellies (6-3, 265 punds) told Tar Heel Illustrated last month that he was looking to visit Chapel Hill to strengthen his relationship with UNC defensive line coach Deke Adams, as well as

get to know the other coaches.

"I talked to coach Adams and the defensive coordinator (John Papuchis) among others," he said. "Based off of first impressions, the coaches seemed like really good people, I would like to build a stronger relationship with them as time goes on."

The McDonough, GA, 3-star prospect not only enjoyed game-day festivities in Kenan Stadium, but made it a priority to get a tour of the campus, even if it was brief.

"We kinda just drove around for a little bit and saw the medical facilities and some of the dorms on campus," he said. "And of course, we saw the amazing football facilities."

Thus far, Ellies feels really good about where things currently stand with the Tar Heels, and that was the case before the visit.

"They've always been in a good place," he said.

Prior to making the trip back home, Ellies made his way to Fed Ex Field to take in the rivalry match-up between West Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Ellies is planning to take unofficial visits to Penn State, Clemson, Virginia Tech, Temple, Maryland, and Pittsburgh this fall.
