Ty Murray, a 3-star offensive guard from Carrollton, GA, confirmed to THI on Sunday evening that he has flipped his commitment from Louisville to North Carolina.

Murray took an official visit to UNC this weekend and had such a positive visit that he went ahead and committed to the Tar Heels.

“I loved it,” he said.

And what was it that swayed him to commit?

"UNC is simple but they get the job done," he said. "I’m not a real big flashy guy and it just fits me.”

About new head coach Mack Brown, Murray said:

"How Coach Brown is trying to make everyone feel like family," Murray replied.

Everything just seemed right to Murray, so he went ahead and popped for the Tar Heels, in part because of what else he learned from the staff while on the visit.

Much of Murray’s time during the official visit was spent with new offensive line coach Stacey Searles and wide receivers coach Lonnie Galloway, who recruited Murray some to Louisville when he was on former coach Bobby Petrino’s staff.

“They said what they liked was that I finish people and that’s what they want me to bring,” he said.

Murray originally committed to Louisville on Oct. 3 but opted to not sign last month during the early signing period in part because he had set up an official visit to UNC. He also has offers from Michigan and UCF, among many other schools.
