Trad Beatty isn’t exactly flying under the radar. Schools know who he is and are interested, and so have recruiting services, such as Rivals.com.

Though he’s rated a 3-star prospect, Beatty doesn’t yet have a major offer, but he’s getting a lot of interest from ACC and SEC schools, including UNC, where he visited over the weekend on Junior Day.

“It went really well,” Beatty told THI. “I enjoyed it a lot.”

What stood out for the 6-4, 210 pounder from South Carolina?

“I really loved the coaches and the campus,” he said. “No surprises but I love the fact that Carolina has a high octane offense.”

Beatty’s high school team, Chapin, which reached the 4-A state championship game but lost, runs a spread offense and he’s happy to note they score a lot of points, as well. They averaged 46 points in their three playoff wins before scoring 24 in the title game. Beatty, however, recently transferred to Ben Lippon, in Columbia.

He spent the most time with QB coach Keith Heckendorf as well as Jason Tudryn.

Beatty is rated the top pro-style quarterback in South Carolina for the class of 2018, was named as one of the top 10 names to watch in his state before this past season began, and he’s been invited to all of the notable spring performance camps. He’s also getting interest from Clemson and South Carolina, among others, and now UNC can be added to that list.

He just met Heckendorf for the first time this past weekend, but is already planning to return for one of UNC’s spring practices and also to attend Heckendorf’s Quarterback Academy in June.

Beatty likes UNC, there’s no doubt, and he definitely wants to learn a lot more about the program and school.

“I'm very interested in UNC and I look forward to hearing more from them.”
