Monroe, NC, 4-star wide receiver Traevon Kenion is rated the 37th best player at his position in the country and landed at No. 220 in the most recent Rivals250 class of 2019 rankings.

Kenion (6-4, 212 pounds) was a big part of the Monroe offense last fall finishing with 26 receptions for 618 yards while scoring 8 touchdowns. He also scored two rushing TDs.

The rising junior has picked up offers from Boston College, South Carolina, Maryland, Louisville, Kansas State and North Carolina among others.

UNC is one of the schools that stand out for Kenion, even though the current quiet period hasn't allowed for much contact time with the coaches.

"I'm too young to really communicate a lot with coaches, "he told THI. "So it's good to a certain extent. "

Tar Heels wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer is the staffer that Kenion is working to strengthen his relationship with.

"Coach Brewer is a great coach," he said. "He's really cool, but he also knows when it's time to work. Also he has produced many great wide receivers so that shows he knows what he is doing."

While Kenion has been to Chapel Hill a few times, there is something specifically different about the University of North Carolina, he says.

"I've been twice for camps, and the main thing that sticks out to me is the vibe of the school," he said.

As for this fall, Kenion is hoping to get back to UNC to check out some games, but does he have any other visits in mind.

"I'm not absolutely sure yet, but maybe Virginia Tech, Louisville, Kansas State and some others," he said.
