CHARLOTTE - Ryan Jones, a 4-star wide receiver in the class of 2017 committed to UNC a while ago, and is now in the process of getting ready for his senior season and transitioning to college football.

THI caught up with the 6-1, 201 pounder from Mallard Creek High School on Monday moments after T.J. Moore announced for South Carolina. Jones was there to support his teammate, but was gracious enough to answer some questions for us.

Here is the transcript of the interview that is posted above:

What have you been doing in the offseason to get better for the upcoming season?

Just working out. Catching a lot of football, running a lot of routes, conditioning, lifting, getting ready for a new season.

What are your goals for the season?

Definitely another state championship. Just overall increasing my stats and just getting better overall as a player.

Have you been talking to any of the other 2017 recruits?

Yes, I’ve really talked to all of them. We’re all in the group together, we’re all pretty close.

Are you also talking to some uncommitted recruits, any particulars that you’re in their ear?

I was in T.J.’s ear, but the recruit that just committed, Billy Ross. Me and the guys talked to him. Actually, a lot of the guys that just committed we’ve talked to a lot.

Are you going to enroll early?

Yes, I graduate in December and will enroll in January.

Mallard Creek is going for four state championships in a row, everything started (Monday), did you have a great practice?

We had a fantastic practice. We had a great tempo, we’re always going to be big, have a lot of talent, so we’re going to have a great season.

Do you have anything to tell Tar Heel Nation?

I’m looking forward to getting there this spring and showing you what I can do. Go Heels.
