All-Purpose FL Back Looking Forward To Visiting

Class of 2018 running back Malcolm Davidson is someone who hasn’t generated a great deal of chatter outside of Florida, though North Carolina has taken notice.

Kissimmee is in the central part of Florida and is where Osceola High School is, just south of Orlando. That also happens to be an area the Tar Heels have mined before, and are once again.

Davidson finished last season rushing for 1,064 yards on 97 carries and 10 touchdowns leading the Kowboys to an 10-1 record, before being upset in the first round of the state playoffs.

North Carolina recently offered the 5-10, 183-pound all-purpose back with the idea of keeping all options open regarding where he may play, though the Tar Heels do like him as a running back.

"I had high thoughts on them, they used to send me letters all the time, and I’d been waiting for the offer to come, I was so excited," he told THI. "Coach (Chad) Scott told me they are taking two running backs for the 2018 class, and I fit as a slot back, or running back either one."

Davidson is hearing regularly from Scott, UNC’s tight ends coach, and is hoping to get to know UNC running backs coach DeAndre Smith this summer when he comes to campus for a team camp.

"I talk to Coach Scott mostly every day, that relationship is pretty good,” he said. “I haven't talked to Coach Scott yet, but I will when I get to camp in June.”

This visit will be important for Davidson to get a good feel for the coaches and get a better idea if UNC is the place for him.

"I want to check out the campus and be able to talk with the coaches and see if they really are interested."

The three other schools Davidson is really high on right now includes, NC. State, Virginia Tech, and Kentucky, all programs he wants to check out down the line.
