Recruiting can be a tricky thing for high school football players not in or near the upper tier of projected prospects

Asheville (NC) Class of 2018 offensive lineman Jacob Setterlind is one of the prospects and is currently in the process of searching for a fit.

He participated in one of UNC's day camp sessions earlier in June and came away intrigued with thoughts of playing on such a big state. The camp session provided him with up-close learning from UNC OL coach Chris Kapilovic and a chance to prove himself worthy of an offer.

"I enjoyed the camp, and liked how it was held inside the stadium, and that the current players helped with the coaching," the 6-6, 300 pounder told THI . " I think I did well, but there is always room for improvement."

The Tar Heel assistant coach, who is also the offensive coordinator, has already taught and made a difference on the in-state lineman already.

"I like how instructional he is, and how he pays attention to detail. I learned some things I will definitely take and use on the field," Setterlind said.

Kapilovic will get another chance to see Setterlind later this week at the Freak Show, as the Asheville native will be there.

"We haven't talked about an offer yet, I'm looking forward to coming to the Freak Show next weekend in hopes of working toward a scholarship offer," he said.

Saturday marked the third time the A.C. Reynolds standout has been on campus, he attended a game last fall as well as a Junior Day, and he plans on attending a game this fall.

Setterlind didn't get to tour the campus during his short time at UNC this past weekend, but did drive by all the construction and saw the new amenities the program is going to have in the future.

Prior to camping at North Carolina, Setterlind was at South Carolina and N.C. State and he will be at Clemson later this week. A trip to Virginia Tech is on the horizon.
