Bernard not in Louisville

A source close to the UNC football squad confirmed to Tar Heel Illustrated Friday afternoon that sophomore running back Giovani Bernard did not make the trip to Louisville with the rest of the team.
Bernard was held out of the second half of UNC's season-opening victory over Elon with knee soreness, and now he's missing his second consecutive game after missing last weeks's 28-27 loss at Wake Forest.

The talented Bernard became UNC's first 1,000-yard rusher in fourteen seasons last fall after missing the entire 2010 season when he tore the ACL in his right knee early in training camp.
As THI attains more information, we'll be sure to pass it along to our readers.
