Butler-North Carolina Series
Carolina leads the all-time series with
Butler, 2-1. The Tar Heels and Bulldogs faced each other in consecutive seasons in the 1990s with Carolina winning both contests (one in Indianapolis and one in Chapel Hill). On December 20, 1992, Carolina won
103-56 at Butler in a homecoming game for then-UNC junior center Eric Montross, an Indianapolis native who is now an analyst for the Tar Heel Sports Network radio crew. The next year, Carolina beat the Bulldogs 104-64 in Chapel Hill in Montross' senior season. The only other meeting between the two schools came in Indianapolis on Jan. 1, 1929. Butler beat UNC 43-20 on that day. Roy Williams will be coaching his first game against Butler on Tuesday.
