Mount Dora (FL) 3-star class of 2019 linebacker Jesiah Pierre made the decision to commit to Miami in June of 2016, but despite that two-year pledge, he’s keeping his options open, and the Tar Heels are one of the programs coming on strong.

Pierre (6-2, 207 pounds) made his first trip to Chapel Hill this past summer for the Freak Show and left it feeling great about his renewed connection with UNC tight ends coach Chad Scott and first-year linebackers coach Mike Ekeler. Those good vibes continue to this day.

"They're outstanding coaches, I bonded with them since day one," Pierre told THI.

During the visit, he got to see a little of what the program had to offer potential student-athletes. That remains with him today, as Carolina is still squarely on his radar.

"I learned about the education that they have there, that they're passionate about everything they do," Pierre said.

The No. 21 player nationally at his position, Pierre has been keeping close track to how the season is going for UNC, and believes things are going to get better.

"Well, I had a really bad season before in my life, so I understand the situation that they are in," he said. "I'm not going to put them down because of it. But I just hope that they finish strong and I know that next year, they will bounce back."

While Pierre is firm to his Miami pledge, he says "UNC, Georgia, and Kentucky" are the other programs he hears from regularly.

Look for Pierre to schedule some more unofficial visits in the near future.
