Fedora Monday Post-Practice Interview

CHAPEL HILL – With North Carolina playing Thursday night at Pittsburgh, head coach Larry Fedora did not hold his standard weekly press conference Monday morning at the Kenan Football Center. Instead, he fielded questions from the media following Monday’s practice at Kenan Stadium.

Here are a couple of snippets about what Fedora talked about:

*Fedora said the team’s open week was spent getting the regular some needed rest and time to heal and the younger players extra reps in practice. The Tar Heels practiced Tuesday-Thursday last week and were back to work Sunday in game week preparation.

In fact, Sunday was like a typical Tuesday and Monday like a typical Wednesday. The team will have a light practice Tuesday and will travel to Pittsburgh on Wednesday evening.

“We got some good work in, we got some fundamental work, we got a bunch of work with some young guys, we got some guys rested up, which we needed to do,” he said. “So it was productive, I thought it was very productive.”

*Monday is normally an off day, so some players missed practice today because they were attending classes.

*The staff was out recruiting Friday and had Saturday off. Fedora always watches a lot of college football, but also like to get some stuff done around this house. Saturday was no different.

“I trimmed the shrubs and then I fixed a toilet,” Fedora said, smiling. “There were about five or six things on her (wife’s) list before I could watch college football.”

On if it’s really even possible for a coach to truly get away, Fedora said, “Saturday was good. Got to watch some games, cook some steaks, and relax and pick up a few things that you think you can add to the offense and defense, so it was good.”
