2021 CB Aubrey Burks is already building a relationship with UNC assistant coach Chad Scott.

Auburndale (FL) High School cornerback Aubrey Burks is an intriguing prospect in the class of 2021. His athleticism and versatility has garnered interest from several programs already.

He reports offers from Iowa State, Iowa State and most recently North Carolina.

As a freshman, Burks recorded 32 tackles (20 solo), 3 interceptions, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 4 pass deflections.

UNC tight ends coach Chad Scott has been in constant contact with the 6-0, 190 pounder. Now that the Tar Heels have extended a scholarship offer, the Heels have emerged as the front-runner for the skilled underclassman.

"I would have to say UNC is at the top right now because of my relationship with Coach (Chad) Scott. I love the relationship I am building with him. Also, the staff says they love my size and grades. They believe I can play on the next level as a Tar Heel," Burks told THI.

Scott has a pretty good track record for connecting with prospects. He makes about things other than football and is adept at reading the kids.

"He doesn't just talk about football with me,” Burks said. “He asks about my family, school, and other things. I love that about him,"

With the summer approaching, Burks says he would like to make a trip to Chapel Hill and build some early ties with the coaching staff. His overall take on the UNC program wasn’t adversely affected with last season’s 3-9 record. He understands injuries basically derailed the season early.

"I love the program even though the injuries hurt their overall record last season,” he said. “They faced adversity well and stayed focus. When someone went down the next man stepped up and handled the job,"

With a visit to Florida State and a few others upcoming, Burks has his focus geared towards one thing all summer

"My main focus all summer is working on my craft."
