THI has written about Tyrone, GA (Sandy Creek H.S.), defensive end Nick Fulwider a few times, most recently about a month ago. On Monday, we caught up with him to find out how things have been since we last talked.

Fulwider, who is 6-6, 243 pounds, has named a top 6 of UNC, Georgia Tech, Rutgers, Indiana, Arkansas and Vanderbilt, and told Rivals a few weeks ago the Yellow Jackets have been a favorite for some time because of his familiarity with the program being local and that Tech has been on him the longest.

But Fulwider also expressed tremendous interest in UNC and was clear the Tar Heels very much have a chance to land him. Fulwider told THI that UNC is “still (in the) top 6.”

WHAT ELSE DID HE SAY?

Coaches He Speaks to: "Coach Adams and Coach Kap."

UNC see him as: "DE initially, depends on how I continue to grow possible move to the inside DT."

IN THE FUTURE

Fulwider said he will be back in Chapel Hill “in the fall for a game."

He also wants to check out his final six in person before long: “I wanted to get it done before school starts but that's unlikely."

THI'S TAKE

UNC is in this race, and it may well be a three-school race including Georgia Tech and Vanderbilt. Academics are very important to Fulwider, which is why Vandy is a player here. We wouldn’t be surprised if he picked any of these three schools, but until he says otherwise, we believe he’s still a slight GT lean.
