Greene Talks Offer

Add North Carolina to the list of suitors pursuing the services of Sherrod Greene.
Greene, a 3-star linebacker from Rocky Mount, NC, was extended an offer before UNC's 50-14 win over Wake Forest on Saturday night by Larry Fedora, something Greene wasn't expecting.

"When they did offer me, all I could do was smile because I was kind of surprised," Greene told THI.
"That was a blessing."
Obviously, Greene loved his visit Saturday. But it was more than just the offer. He had a good time, as there's plenty to like about what's going on around UNC football these days.
"The atmosphere and the coaches, they have nice coaches and also the team," he said.
The 6-1, 220 pounder is rated the No. 12 player in North Carolina in the junior class, and No. 24 nationally at his position. N.C. State, Virginia Tech and East Carolina are among some of his other early offers, but there are no favorites as of now. And, as Greene puts it, there never were any favorites.
He didn't grow up favoring any school.
As for where certain schools are right now in his thinking process, Greene wouldn't reveal anything, if there's anything to reveal. He plans on remaining in the feeling-out phase of the process for a while. Greene isn't in any hurry.
Larry Porter and John Papuchis are the coaches he's most often in touch with, and some of his talks with Papuchis, who would be his position coach if Greene matriculates to Chapel Hill, have been about how much the defense has improved under the new staff on that side of the ball.
Greene is impressed.
"I think overall they're great coaches and the defense improved a lot," he said. "I like how the whole defense fly to the ball and how discipline they are."
Greene hopes to get to Chapel Hill for another game this season.
