Knee injuries plague Heels

According to UNC officials, offensive tackle Carl Gaskins, tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in his left knee during Wednesday morning's practice, and will miss the entire 2009 season.
A sophomore from Melbourne, Fla., Gaskins played in five games in 2008 and was competing for playing time this fall at left tackle.

In addition, senior tight end Ryan Taylor of Winston-Salem, N.C., sprained the medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his right knee during Tuesday's practice.
He is expected to be out of action for approximately one month.
