Class of 2020 offensive tackle Aaryn Parks got a surprise visitor this past week when the North Carolina offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic made the trip to Fort Washington, MD.

Kapilovic made his way to National Christian Academy to check out Parks and his team. While watching them work out, the 6-5, 310- pound lineman stood out, and the Tar Heels assistant was impressed enough to extend him an offer through his coach Dre Kates.

"The offer was expected, I just had to put in the work first," he told THI. "UNC offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic offered me, he came to the practice and watched me move around and loved what he saw."

Now that he has an offer from the Tar Heels, Parks is looking forward to learning more about the Carolina football program and looking to build a strong relationship with the coaching staff and eventually see if he fits there.

"I think they have a good staff, (though) I don't know much about them, "he said. "But I saw the head coach Larry Fedora in the school building along with defensive coordinator Coach John Papuchis and now the offensive coordinator coach Chris Kapilovic, I like the mindset they have."

The relationship with Kapilovic is already off to a good start, and Parks is hopeful on making his way to Chapel Hill to pick the veteran assistant’s brain.

"He (Coach Kap) told me I should come down and see the program, and that he would love for me to come be a part of the Tar Heel Nation." he said. "I would love to head down to UNC, I've heard so many good things about it, and Coach Kap makes his offensive line play hard and I love it."

Aside from UNC, Parks has offers from Michigan, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia, Rutgers and Syracuse among others.

In addition to getting down to UNC, Parks is also planning trips to LSU, Michigan, Syracuse and possibly a few more.

THI's Thoughts

Parks still has plenty of time to make a decision, but this is another of many recent offers in Maryland between Baltimore and D.C., plus south from there some. Parks has some really nice offers and will get more, so his relationship with Coach Kap will be really big here. Te whole staff is important, but this is a recruitment Kap can win.
