Nick Fulwider, a 6-6, 260-pound defensive end from Sandy Creek High School in Tyrone, GA, has committed to play football at North Carolina, he told THI on Thursday evening.

Fulwider is rated the No. 33 player in the nation at his position in the class of 2018 and has offers from Mississippi State, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Georgia Tech, Arkansas and Louisville among many others. His final list of six schools, however, was Rutgers, Indiana, Vanderbilt, GT, Arkansas and UNC, though Fulwider told THI earlier in the week Syracuse had entered the picture.

Fulwider was in Chapel Hill this past weekend taking in the Tar Heels’ game versus unbeaten Miami, in which they fell 24-19. But Fulwider was impressed with how hard the Tar Heels fought despite being ravaged with injuries.

"Very impressive," he said. “D-line played with heart. Great game atmosphere."

Fulwider left UNC knowing the UNC coaching staff wanted him badly, hoping he’d commit soon.

“I'm a priority for them and that I would get a chance to play immediately if earned it,” he said.
