Class of 2018 defensive end Harrison Taylor got some big news this past week when the University of North Carolina extended him a scholarship offer to play power 5 college football for the Tar Heels.

"It was big time," he told THI. "Something I never could've dreamed of happening, an ACC offer before my senior season was even half way over."

Taylor, a 6-4, 237 pounder for Eagle's Landing Christian of McDonough (GA), really had no clue UNC was even evaluating him until just recently.

"Coach (Deke) Adams the defensive line coach called my head coach and then called me the next day or so," he said.

As far as his projection going forward, Taylor doesn't know where things are going to go from here, but he does have a sense of why UNC is interested in him.

"(They said) I am a hard-nosed football player who hustles on the field and plays with a chip on my shoulder "he said. "That's something they're looking for."

Since the Heels just offered, the relationship is currently in the beginning stage, but Taylor is eager to strengthen the relationship.

"They're pretty successful in terms of coming close to winning ACC championships," he replied. "I don't know much but I can't wait to continue this process with them."

Taylor doesn't have a set in stone date on when he will get to Chapel Hill, but has an idea of when it may be, along with some things he will be most interested in learning about when he does make the trip to Carolina.

"Just the facilities and really just get a feel for the game environment and coaches," he said.

Prior to picking up the offer from UNC, he listed a top 6 that includes Rutgers, Temple, Appalachian State, Colorado State, Charlotte and Tulane. But with the Heels coming into play things may change.
