Flying under the radar in some respects, Donovan Noel may be on the brink of breaking through, at least when it comes to North Carolina and its quest for offensive linemen.

The athletic 6-4, 265-pound 2018 tackle does have offers from the likes of Georgia Tech, Boston College and East Carolina, to name a few, but he has no star rating yet, and none of the ACC schools in the Raleigh native’s home state have yet offered.

Interest? Yes, UNC is definitely now interested in the Millbrook H.S. standout, as he found out after camping at UNC on Tuesday.

“He said he was interested,” Noel told THI, referring to UNC offensive line coach Chris Kapolivic.

“He said that he likes my athletic ability but says I need to work on eliminating wasted movement with my hands.”

Noel was one of the more intriguing prospects at the camp. He’s definitely athletic, and while he looks like he plays other sports, it’s only football for him during his senior year. Noel learned a great deal at camp, which was the seventh time he’s been to Chapel Hill.

If someone has been that often, it’s fair to figure they like the place. What are Noel’s thoughts about the program?

“I like the physicality of the program and the code the live by,” he said.

Noel may not have an offer coming in the next week or two, but if he continues to grow his game UNC will take more notice. So, if an offer comes, where would the Tar Heels stand?

“They would be one of the schools that I would majorly consider,” Noel replied. “But I really have no idea what my top schools are right now.”
