Xavier Truss, an offensive lineman from Rhode Island, likes an awful lot about UNC, which recently extended an offer.

Xavier Truss, a class of 2019 offensive tackle from Bishop Hendricken School in Warick, RI, picked up a scholarship offer from North Carolina head coach Larry Fedora last week.

"I think it's awesome that the coaches took their time to come up and see me and explain the school and what it's about to me," he told THI. "I was definitely impressed, I think I was surprised and I was expecting it at the same time, they had been talking to me for a little while and it was a surprise to get the offer from Coach Larry Fedora."

Truss (6-7, 325) has also courted offers from Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon, Florida, Michigan and Maryland among others.

Tar Heel Illustrated reached out to Truss to discuss his thoughts on the recent offer from UNC.

Here Is The Interview:

THI: What are your thoughts on North Carolina as a football program and as an overall institution?

Truss: I think that the way the coaches explained it, that I could get a D1 education as well as a D1 football career there. I hope to get down there soon and check it out.

THI: As an offensive lineman, what are your strengths and what are a few things you want to improve on entering your senior season?

Truss: I think I am quick off the ball and a strong hitter who loves to block until the whistle. I think I have good quick feet and strong hands. I need to work on my balance and getting stronger for next year.

THI: You mentioned you would like to get down to Chapel Hill for a visit, is there anything specific that you may want to check out?

Truss: They told me about the $90 million dollar renovations. I’d have to check out everything, even the basketball arena.

THI: While on campus, what is something you may ask the coaches and players in order to learn more about the program?

Truss: I want to know what the program has done in preparing the players for life beyond football.

THI: Other than UNC, what are a few other programs you’re interested in visiting in the near future?

Truss: Ohio State, Michigan and Oregon.

THI: Currently is any school recruiting you harder than the rest?

Truss: Penn State
