The Latest On Emmanuel

Dmitri Emmanuel had a relatively quiet summer and that's good news if you're a Tar Heels fan.
If Emmanuel deserves the offers then they're going to come. And there's a good chance more offers will be coming for the 6-foot-3, 290-pound rising junior from Marvin Ridge.

He already has offers from UNC, Boston College and Old Dominion, but Emmanuel told TarHeelIllustrated.com this week that NC State, West Virginia and East Carolina are showing varying levels of interest and could be among the next to offer. Emmanuel acknowledged that he's hoping to hear more from Tennessee and Notre Dame, among others, but the state's No. 11 prospect from the 2017 class mostly emphasized his interest in the Tar Heels.
"I only got to go to one camp this year and that was (in) Chapel Hill," Emmanuel told THI. "It was just one of their regular camps. I participated in that and they thought I did really well. Coach 'Kap (Chris Kapilovic) the offensive line coach said I have good feet and good hands and I did pretty well in the one-on-ones."
That was Emmanuel's "third or fourth" visit to UNC, he told THI. He said he had been to UNC for a junior day and a game before this summer's camp. Emmanuel has been accompanied by fellow Marvin Ridge prospect and classmate Emeka Emezie every time he has visited UNC. Emezie hasn't exactly hidden his interest in UNC. Emmanuel isn't either.
"I speak with Coach 'Kap and Coach (Gunter) Brewer and we have a good relationship right now," Emmanuel said. "I started talking with Coach Brewer first when he was recruiting me early. He's the one who invited me up there. I've gotten to know Coach 'Kap more recently.
"I'd say my interest in UNC is pretty high right now," he said. "I don't have any favorites right now because I'm still waiting for other schools to come. I want to see how my junior year plays out."
