UNCs best reunite to help others

Most fans put their team's idols on a pedestal often forgetting that they are human just like us all. They have the same problems and dilemmas to deal with, too.
The best of the best of North Carolina basketball lore will reunite this weekend to help fight one of those trying issues - diabetes.

"Several of the Carolina players know people that are diabetic," said Angela Lee, president of CarolinaPros, Inc. "They are coming together to help fight this disease and do something that is not only good for the community, but also good for people that they are close to as well."
The event is the fourth annual World's Greatest Alumni Game. The game, hosted by Jerry Stackhouse and Antawn Jamison, will be held Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Dean E. Smith Center.
The CarolinaPros All-Stars teams up against the ACC Pros All-Stars.
Scheduled to participate will be Jerry Stackhouse, Antawn Jamison, Brendan Haywood, Jeff McInnis, George Lynch, Rashad McCants, Sean May, Marvin Williams, Raymond Felton, Derrick Phelps, Brian Reese, Donald Williams, Rusty LaRue, Chris Carrawell, Rasheed Wallace, Joseph Forte, Dahntay Jones, Rodney Rogers, Darrell Armstrong, Chris Paul, JR Smith, Josh Howard, Marquis Daniels, Daniel Ewing, Ronald Murray, Chucky Brown, Tony Cummings, Robert Doggette, Tony Moore, Phil Ford, Phil Spence, Jimmy Black, Gene Banks, Tracey Williams, Chickee Yonakor, Greg Anthony, Kenny Smith, and King Rice.
Several other former athletes, including Melvin Scott, Jackie Manuel, JR Reid, Al Wood, Pat Sullivan, Ranzino Smith, Ed Geth, Curtis Hunter, and Jason Capel will also be in attendance.
"Getting the players to come back hasn't really been a task," Lee said. "They have a great camaraderie and help one another out. They like to return here and doing something that can aide others and friends, previous teammates and members of the Carolina family has an appeal all its own."
The weekend also features a bowling tournament and Las Vegas Style Casino Night on Friday. Prior to the game on Saturday there will be a feed the children and fan appreciation extravaganza.
