Nokesville, VA, 3-star offensive lineman Jakai Moore was caught off guard when he picked up an offer from North Carolina earlier this week, but he’s certainly pleased.

"I was surprised, it's a great school," the class of 2019 prospect told THI. "It has a very good sports medicine school and they are an up and coming team that dealt with a lot of injuries last year."

Moore (6-6, 293 pounds) is a two-sport standout at Patriot High School, excelling in football and basketball, but believes his best overall fit going forward is on the gridiron.

"I feel my strengths are my athleticism as an offensive lineman," he said. "My ability to move to different positions and still being able to do good at whatever they put me. I feel like basketball helps me a lot with football on footwork and stuff."

He is looking forward to meeting and building a relationship with Tar Heels co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic upon his arrival in Chapel Hill this spring.

"I want to see their style of play," he said. "Just by talking to Coach Kapilovic on the phone, I feel comfortable with him. He's a coach that understands the game and I can talk to him outside of football."

Due to him focusing on the upcoming state basketball playoffs, Moore hasn't scheduled any visits, but is hoping to get to Ohio State, West Virginia, VT, UVA, Penn State, South Carolina, Miami and UNC within in the next few months.

During the recruitment process thus far, Moore has a few programs that are standing out.

"I feel like South Carolina, Penn State, Virginia Tech, and Virginia are trying to recruit me the hardest."
