It was a tale of two halves for North Carolina. who found itself trailing Dayton by 21 points with less than 18 minutes left, before storming back to win, 92-90, in the opening round of the Maui Invitational on Monday night.
RJ Davis led the Tar Heels with a season-high 30 points, with 20 of them coming in the second half. Junior guard Seth Trimble scored a career-high 27 points and grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds. The rest of the team scored just 37 points.
The victory means Carolina improves to 4-1 while the Flyers dropped to 5-1. UNC advances to face No. 4 Auburn in the semifinals on Tuesday night at 11 PM.
