Tar Heel illustrated has written about Sandy Creek (GA) high school standout defensive end Nick Fulwider multiple times, and recently caught up with him to discuss how his recruitment is coming along, and where the Tar Heels stand.

Fulwider, a 3-star prospect in the class of 2018, who stands at 6-6, 243 pounds, isn't giving any hints at this time as to which program he favors the most, and it's conceivable he visits any of his top six schools, UNC, Georgia Tech. Indiana, Arkansas, Rutgers and Vanderbilt.

Our Q&A

Have you considered when you may officially visit UNC?

Coach Adams has been on me about getting it done, but none are scheduled as of now.

Has UNC mentioned how many defensive lineman they would like to take this cycle?

Yes sir, I was told that they only had room for one more defensive end that was back this summer on my visit.

What will your final decision come down to, and will your final visits be a huge factor in the end?

It will come down to if I can develop and play in that schools defensive scheme, and I really can't say.

How much have you been paying attention to UNC’s struggles?

Yes I have been keeping up. I have every confidence that Coach Fedora will turn things around.

THI's Take

North Carolina is very much involved, but Fulwider has given no indication any school is in front as of now. UNC has been trying to get Fulwider back on campus for an official visit for a while now but things haven't worked out just yet. We believe UNC is in the mix, but it must close strong.
