North Carolina has offered 5-star 2020 center Walker Kessler, who attends Woodward Academy in College Park, GA.
Kessler, who is 7-feet and 235 pounds, has also been offered by Virginia, Texas A&M, Illinois, Georgia, Auburn and several others.
Kessler is rated the No. 9 overall prospect in the class of 2020 and the No. 2 center in the class.
UNC Coach Roy Williams and assistant Brad Frederick watched Kessler practice Thursday morning and then attended his game Friday night and determined it was time to offer. The Carolina staff had been paying close attention to Kessler since before last spring. Kessler was offered Wednesday night by the Tar Heels.
“Ever since he was a kid, he’s always said that North Carolina and Duke were the two schools he would love to recruit him,” Kessler’s mother, Andrea Kessler told THI.
“Roy Williams came to see him at an early morning workout on Thursday and they stayed the night here in Georgia and saw him again last night (Friday night) for his game.”
Clint Jackson Says...
"Really like the Kessler offer. A skilled 7-0 prospect who can really stretch the floor. I see Roy Williams really opening up his offensive schemes with a kid like this. Luke Maye's success as a big who can shoot from deep has really seemed to change UNC's philosophy on offers to stretch bigs.
"Kessler, is another big time prospect from the state of Georgia where UNC has had some success. Kessler's father and uncle played pro ball and he looks like a guy who has a future in that arena as well."
