CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina unveiled its 2017 national championship banner at the Smith Center on Friday during Late Night With Roy.

With part of the stands used to stage the video board for the event, the capacity in the arena was around 20,000 seats, and every one of them was filled when the banner unveiled, giving UNC seven national title banners.

The players on the current team were joined by key seniors from the title team, Kennedy Meeks and Nate Britt, at center court as the team gathered to watch a highlight video commemorating their championship run before the banner was unveiled.

“It was a dream come true,” Luke Maye said when asked what went through his mind when the banned rolled down. “Kennedy asked me out there, ‘Did you ever think you’d be a national champion?’

“It’s something I’ve dreamed about and to have it come to fruition is really something special.”

Maye and Kenny Williams were the only two players made available to the media after LNWR was over.
