Ray Vohasek, a 6-4, 255-junior college defensive lineman from College of Dupage in Glen Ellyn, IL, committed to UNC Tuesday evening via Twitter.

Vohasek suffered a torn labrum as a senior at McHenry East High School in McHenry, IL, and ended up having surgery last July. He played with it injured throughout the 2017 season, making his numbers even more impressive.

As a freshman at DuPage, Vohasek led the team with 7.5 sacks and 11 tackles for a loss of yardage. He took a medical redshirt this fall and will have three years of eligibility wherever he ends up.

“Yeah, I’ll come in as a sophomore,” he said.

So, what has the UNC staff told Vohasek they liked about his game?

“They like that I’m a high motor guy and they believe I can come in and play right now,” he replied.

Vohasek recently said there’s plenty he likes about UNC, including its academics. He has a 3.4 gpa. There was more, however.

“I liked that they had a lot of younger players that are coming up right now, and the facilities and the new indoor are very nice,” he said.
