Red Bank, NJ, tight end Kevin Bauman learned this week he’s not only a fit at North Carolina on the football field, but off of it, too.

That’s why the Tar Heels offered the 2020 prospect, who attends Red Bank Catholic, which is located about 55 miles from New York City and near the Atlantic Ocean. Bauman fits at UNC.

“It was incredible,” Bauman told THI about the offer. “Knowing the type of program and school that they are. I spoke with the tight ends Coach Scott.

“He said he was impressed by my film and that I am the type of person and player who they are looking for, not only on the field but also in the classroom.”

At 6-5 and 235 pounds, Bauman has also been offered by Boston College, Rutgers, Syracuse and Virginia. Penn State is on him a lot these days, too. He recently visited BC, Rutgers and Penn State and has plans on visiting Notre Dame pretty soon.

As for UNC, he hasn’t been there but he’s hoping that will happen.

“I have never had the opportunity to visit there, but I am looking forward to visiting soon,” he said. “Not sure when yet.”

One of the things that intrigues Bauman about the Tar Heels is how they use their tight ends. Carolina will spread them out and use them in a multitude of ways. From power to being another receiver running any kind of pattern, that appeals to Bauman. And his game fit that style.

“It’s great knowing that they use their tight ends in a number of different ways,” he said. “At our school, we also are very versatile with the positions so that is awesome for me.”

Bauman still has plenty of time before making a decision, so he’s in no rush. As of now, UNC is a pretty good option for him and for Carolina.
