Notable Stats: Career averages of 16.2 points (19th highest in UNC history), 7.6 rebounds, 1.7 assists and .9 blocked per game; Shot 60.1% for his career (5th highest ever at UNC); 27th all-time at UNC with 1,552 career points; 25th all-time at UNC with 731 career rebounds.

In Closing: The top-ranked high school player in the nation in 1986, Reid came to UNC as hyped as any newcomer in some time and he often delivered as a freshman. He scored 31 points in a Sweet 16 win over Notre Dame that season, and to cap off the ACC part of his career after a somewhat disappointing final (junior) season, according to many in the media, he won the Everett Case award after leading the Tar Heels in scoring in all three games and shutting down Duke’s Danny Ferry in the title game. Reid was powerful, enforced his will, and when getting a defender on his strong lower body and rear, he often drop-stepped his way to layups and dunks. He had enormous hands and always commanded a presence on the floor, even when not playing well. As for dunking, Reid had some of the most thunderous in UNC history. Described by some as a “Man Child,” when he arrived at Carolina, the whole of Reid’s career is pretty impressive.
