Shelby (NC) class of 2019 outside linebacker Jaylon Scott is part of a linebacker corps that includes Dax Hollifield, a highly coveted Rivals150 prospect in the rising senior class.

The duo led Shelby High School to an undefeated season last fall, concluding with a dominating 28-6 state title victory over Northside-Jacksonville, capturing their fourth consecutive state title.

"Winning state was like icing on a cake," Scott told THI. "Great way to end the season. I just wanted our seniors to have fun playing ball."

Scott (6-2, 210) racked up 51 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, including 5 sacks, and picked off 3 passes last fall for the Lions. He currently holds offers from Maryland, N.C. State and the Tar Heels.

The 3-star prospect has been to Chapel Hill twice and has gained a measure of comfort there and with what, therefore he's comfortable with what the Heels are preaching.

"I really like UNC," he said. "I think it's a very awesome program and a great place to be. There's a lot of things I like about the program like the staff, facilities, and the atmosphere."

UNC wide receivers coach Gunter Brewer and linebackers coach Mike Ekeler are the staffers Scott is constantly in contact with.

"Coach Ekeler and Coach Brewer they’re easy to talk too," he said. "Very cool people, they really care about me."

Right now, Scott is taking things slowly and isn't worried about making any visits at this time.

"No, I really haven't been thinking about that," he said. "I've been focusing on this upcoming football season."
