After eight flights to games away from Chapel Hill and contests in eight states outside of North Carolina, UNC’s basketball team won’t have to get on a plane for a while nor leave the state much to close out the regular season, either.
Nine of UNC’s 21 games have been played outside of North Carolina with 11 staged away from the Dean Smith Center. But, eight of the Tar Heels’ last 10 regular season games will be in the Old North State, including the next seven.
In fact, with the ACC Tournament in Charlotte next month, UNC will play just twice in other states until the NCAA Tournament: March 2 at Clemson and March 5 at Boston College.
The Heels’ next three games are at home versus N.C. State on Tuesday, Miami over the weekend and then Virginia on Feb. 11. Trips to Wake Forest and Duke follow with home dates against Florida State and Syracuse closing out the month.
Carolina plays three games in March before heading to Charlotte: Clemson and BC, which were noted above, and the regular season finale at home versus Duke on March. 9.
The ACC Tournament begins March 12.
The Tar Heels have logged a lot of miles so far, so this may be a welcomed stretch as any energy conserved as the postseason nears can only be viewed as a positive, and not flying can help that cause.
