IMG Academy (FL) 3-star defensive tackle Josh Walker recently picked up an offer from North Carolina, and is already thinking about the possibilities that may come from this.

"Coach (Gene) Chizik extended the offer, it didn't come as a surprise," Walker told THI. "They have been recruiting me hard for a while."

Chizik, UNC’s defensive coordinator, is monitoring his recruitment thus far, but the 2018 prospect is interested in talking to the new Tar Heel defensive line coach Deke Adams when the time is right.

"Relationships play a big part in my recruitment," he said.

The UNC interest has been there long before Walker arrived in the Sunshine State.

Walker is a 6-2, 285 pounder who is from Carrolton, GA where he starred at Carrolton H.S., but he recently chose to transfer to powerhouse IMG in Bradenton, FL.

There was no looking back, this choice was well thought out and Walker felt this was his time to make a change.

"This move was an opportunity for me to get better on and off the field, but to also get my game to the best it can be," he said.

Walker has kept tabs on how things are in Chapel Hill, and has an idea of what the Heels may offer as a program.

"They are heading in the right direction," he said. "Not only are they one of the top schools in the ACC, but they produce some of the best D-tackles in the nation and knowing that I could go there and be next means a lot."

Walker looking at planning a visit to UNC for this summer, with an open mind about experiencing as much as possible, which could lead to a return trip in the fall.

Other schools that are currently standing out to Walker includes, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Samford, and Michigan State.
