CHARLOTTE – Blocked shots, steals, cutting off cutters, denying passes, extending sets, and a little dog added to the mix are ways to describe how No. 11 North Carolina went after it on the defensive end of the floor Wednesday night.
The Tar Heels faced a huge challenge with No. 7 Oklahoma and its highly efficient offense in the Jumpman Invitational at Spectrum Center, and all the Tar Heels did was hold the Sooners to a bevy of offensive season lows in an 81-69 victory.
UNC limited the Sooners’ effectiveness in a multitude of ways. It wasn’t one aspect of Carolina’s defense that worked well, it was across the board.
And on the other end of the floor, RJ Davis went off again, Armando Bacot sort of found his stroke, and the Heels put together four quality runs and pulled away late to secure the win.
Davis led UNC with 23 points, Bacot added 14, Cormac Ryan had 13, and Harrison Ingram added 11.
UNC improved to 8-3 while the Sooners dropped to 10-1.
