WAKE FOREST, NC – Devon Lawrence, a 4-star running back from Wake Forest (NC) High School, committed to play football at North Carolina following his team’s game Friday night.
Lawrence narrowed his list down to UNC and UCLA several weeks ago, and while he took his official visit to UNC he skipped his official to UCLA, giving further indication he would be a Tar Heel.
The 5-11, 195 pounder also fielded offers from Ohio State, Tennessee, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia Tech and N.C. State. His brother, Dexter, starts at defensive tackle for Clemson.
“They treated me with the upmost respect and they were down to earth,” Lawrence recently told Rivals.com. “My hosts were cool and we had a good time. I’ve always had strong feelings towards Carolina.”
Lawrence, who is rated the No. 10 running back in the nation and No. 13 overall prospect in North Carolina, is the second commitment for UNC in as many days, joining Tyrone, GA, defensive end Nick Fulwider, who committed Thursday night. He is the 12th member of the class of 2018.
Lawrence's teammate at Wake Forest, Javon Terry, committed to UNC in June.
