Discuss this article and UNC basketball with other Tar Heels fans

No name is bigger in the world of high school basketball among North Carolina fans than Ian Jackson. The Tar Heel commit, and seventh-ranked rising senior, is currently the highest-ranked recruit to pledge to UNC in several years.

Rob Cassidy offered Rivals most recent scouting report and wrote, "One of the more explosive, athletic and versatile scorers in the class Jackson is a streaky shooter capable of taking over games with gaudy point totals when things are clicking. The North Carolina commit is a much better defender than he sometimes gets credit for being and his athleticism allows him to play longer than he is on that end of the court."

Jackson has had several opportunities to show his wares this summer. He completed the Team USA training camp, and made the U19 national team which went on to play in the FIBA World Cup in Turkey. Jackson averaged 6.3 points, 2.1 assists, and two rebounds per game. From there, he returned to Rock Hill, SC, and the Adidas 3SSB nationals.

When Tar Heel Illustrated caught up with Jackson on Friday, he was in Miami. We discussed the last couple of months as well as what the future holds when he steps on campus next summer as the newest North Carolina Tar Heel:
