Blythewood, SC, class of 2021 wide receiver Joshua Burrell was among a many underclassmen who took in North Carolina’s game versus Pittsburgh on Saturday at Kenan Stadium. This was his first recruiting visit to Chapel Hill and it didn’t disappoint.
“The visit was great, the atmosphere was amazing, “the 6-1, 190 pounder told THI. “The atmosphere was just something else. The fans were electric the entire game. I got to talk to Coach (Deke) Adams, and just watching the Tar Heels play was great. I think seeing all the Carolina Blue topped it all off.”
During his trip he got to spend quality time with Adams, UNC’s defensive line coach who handles the region where Burrell lives. In fact, Adams’ son, Jordyn, a former 4-star prospect who committed to UNC but signed a Major League contract with the Los Angeles Angels after being drafted in the MLB first round in June, also played at Blythewood.
“I think Coach Adams is a great guy, we’ve talked a few times but my relationship with him is only going to get better, I know of his son Jordyn,” Burrell said.
Here is the rest of THI’s interview with Burrell:
THI: While talking with the coaches, what did they mention they liked about you?
Burrell: “He (Deke Adams) said they watched my and film and my brother’s film. (Jordan Burrell/twin brother) They said they liked what they saw but they want to see some more film from the rest of season and watch us get some more reps. He said he’ll be down in Blythewood in a few weeks to watch us perform.”
THI: What did you think of the facilities at UNC?
Burrell: “I loved the facilities, I think the locker room stood out to me.”
THI: Do you currently hold any offers and if not what would a possible offer from the Heels mean to you?
Burrell: “No offers yet but an offer from UNC would mean a lot to me. Coach Adams told me that UNC isn’t like other schools that just offer when another school offers. If they offer me, then I’d know that they want me at their school. Also, just knowing that I have the opportunity to play college football at the next level would be a great feeling.”
THI: Where else have you been and where do you plan on visiting this fall?
Burrell: “I’ve only been to UNC so far. I do plan on getting to Virginia Tech, USC, Clemson, Charlotte, and Wake Forest, if I can.”
