Austin Blaske, a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive lineman who has spent the last four seasons at Georgia, has committed as a transfer to North Carolina, he announced Friday morning on social media.

“Excited for the next chapter,” he tweeted, with an image of himself in a UNC uniform.

Blaske redshirted in 2020, saw limited action in 2021, played in nine of UGA’s 15 games in 2022, and played in just three games this season. He gets 2020 back as the Covid year, thus this season will be his redshirt year, so Blaske has two years of eligibility remaining.

He took an official visit to UNC earlier this week. He has also taken one to Georgia Tech.

Blaske played 29 snaps this season logging them against Tennessee-Martin (10), Kentucky (15), and Vanderbilt (4). He graded out at 64.7.

In all, Blaske played 158 offensive snaps for the Bulldogs, plus 10 more plays on special teams. He was part of two national championship teams at Georgia.

Blaske was a 3-star prospect at South Effingham High School in Bloomingdale, GA. He was the No. 47 overall prospect in the loaded state, and 47th nationally at his position.

A few notes from his UGA bio:

*Named to the 2020-2021 First-Year Southeastern Conference Academic Honor Roll

*Named a unanimous selection to the 2019 Class 5A All-State first team by the Georgia Sports Writers Association and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

*Ranked as the No. 1 wrestler in Class 5A this season according to the Effingham Herald, with an 18-0 record to date in the 285-pound weight class.

*Reached the Class 5A traditional championship match (285-pound), finishing with a 50-18 individual record in his junior campaign.
