NC DB/WR Gaining Interest From Tar Heels

There isn’t a position Jordan Waters wouldn’t play if his coach at Fairmont (NC) High School asked. Situationally, he plays seemingly every position. Well, every skill position.

“On offense, I play wide out, slot, and some tight end, on defense, I play safety and linebacker,” Waters told THI.

“Whatever the team needs.”

When Waters (6-1, 192) gets to college after graduating from high school in 2019, his position will be singularly identified, though he’s not certain which side of the ball that will be yet. He’s bring recruited as a wide receiver by some schools and a defensive back by others.

One of the schools showing him interest is North Carolina, and Waters was in Chapel Hill last weekend taking in the Tar Heels’ game versus Duke.

“Great,” he said of his time at Kenan Stadium. “I loved the way we were treated and the atmosphere by the fans.”

It wasn’t his first time at UNC.

“I’ve been to a camp at UNC and I like their football facilities, the players have the best of the best,” he said.

He spoke with UNC defensive coordinator John Papuchis, who has also been to see him at his high school.

“They like my size and speed, and I can play both sides of the ball,” Waters recalled the coach telling him.

Waters already has offers from Duke and Wake Forest, plus N.C. State and Georgia are showing increasing interest, among others. But if the Tar Heels were to offer, it would resonate well.

“If they offer me I would definitely consider their school,” he said.

Over the next month, Waters has visits lined up with Wake Forest, N.C. State and Georgia.
