Two future North Carolina Tar Heels won state championships this past weekend, and one other still has a title game to play.

Davion Gause, a 4-star running back from Hollywood, FL, scored in his team’s state title, and 4-star WR Keenan Jackson’s team won as he was also named MVP with Weddington beating Hoggard in North Carolina.

Ashton Woods, a 4-star linebacker from Marietta, GA, and his Walton team play for a state championship on Wednesday.

Here are the results with some notes from this weekend’s title games.

4-Star RB Davion Gause and Chaminade-Madonna cruised to a Florida 1M state championship by clobbering Clearwater Central Catholic, 56-0, on Thursday afternoon in Tallahassee. The game was played at Ken Riley Field on the campus of Florida A&M University, with the temperature 45 degrees at kickoff.

Chaminade-Madonna, which finished the season 14-0, scored 30 seconds into the game and didn’t really stop. It was 28-0 at halftime.

Gause, who missed some time this season, scored a touchdown making the score 21-0 in the second quarter. He had 53 yards on eight carries. Gause will enroll early next month at UNC.

Keenan Jackson, a 4-star wide receiver at Weddington High School, helped his team to a 56-21 rout of Wilmington Hoggard in the NCHSAA 4A championship on Saturday night at NC State’s Carter-Finley Stadium.

Jackson caught 10 passes for 136 yards and two touchdowns, plus he returned a fumble for a score as well. For his efforts, Jackson was named the MVP of the game.

“Coach preaches to us to envision making big plays in big-time games, so big-time players make big-time plays in big games,” Jackson said in a postgame press conference. “So, I was just looking for any opportunity to step up and help our team win a state championship.”

Jackson will enroll at UNC next month.

Ashton Woods and Walton HS (GA) (14-0) will play Milton HS (GA) - GHSA Class 7 A on December 13.
