Eight new Tar Heel football players arrive in Chapel Hill this weekend to begin their careers as early enrollees.

Each of the program's 4-star commitments for the Class of 2017 are getting a jump start on their college careers as well as a former 4-star prospect, defensive end Jordon Riley, who dropped after suffering an injury. Two other early arrivals are 3-star prospects and the final is a preferred walk-on.

Lawler Says: I will bring Intensity, effort, and passion for the game. I'll play hard and give everything I got day in and day out.

Melton Says: Growing up a fan, I always felt like I was a Tar Heel. I'm Excited to be there, and will play every like it's my last.

Carter Says: I really cant exactly say what i will bring to North Carolina, but just know UNC will get a great person on and off the field. I will go in and just be me, just come ready to work hard run the ball and do whatever Coach Porter and the other coaches ask of me.

Gill Says: As a player I bring leadership skills and my drive. I'm not going to let anybody outwork me.

Cauthen Says: I look forward to playing and being a student-athlete at the collegiate level, at Carolina. I am looking forward to all the challenges I will face and the many new experiences I will have, and I will compete as hard as I can to make our team the best it can be.

Shaw Says: I describe my play as a versatile athlete, that loves to just go out there and make plays all over the field. I am the type of defensive back to not allow you to do what you want. If my team needs me to play 3 different positions to win, that is what you will see me doing.

Riley Says: I can play anywhere on the Defensive line, but prefer to play DT. I love Carolina and when I enroll in January you will see me give it my all. I will attack at will, and make sure I cause some problems inside.

Preferred Walk-On offensive lineman Quiron Johnson is also enrolling early. Here's his Hudl video:
