UNC commit Wilson helps end losing streak

UNC commit E.J. Wilson and Brunswick Senior High have struggled through the past season and a half without a win. This past Friday night, they ended their losing streak with a 36-0 victory over Bluestone. For the 6-foot-3, 230-pound Wilson, it was a gratifying moment, especially since he was responsible for three touchdowns.
“Getting our first win Friday night feels good,” Wilson said. “This is my first win since my sophomore year. I’ve been at tailback consistently the past few weeks. I had three rushing touchdowns on Friday, and they didn’t even play me in the fourth quarter.”

Wilson is the epitome of the “ironman” player for Brunswick Senior. Opposing teams never know where he is going to be lined up on any single play on either side of the ball. On defense, Wilson has been moved to safety in order to add speed to the secondary. Still, Wilson finds himself playing up close to the line of scrimmage like a linebacker would on many occasions.
Since committing to UNC, Wilson has been going non-stop in almost everything he does, and that includes the weight room. He is now playing at 240 pounds and his bench max is now approaching 300 pounds. His excitement at being a Tar Heel still abounds.
“I’m think I’m going to make it down for the Miami game this Saturday,” Wilson said. “We have a game Saturday morning at 11 a.m., so I’ll probably head out after that. I’ve been trying to get down there more, but I’ve been busy since the Louisville game,” Wilson said.
Wilson’s activeness will continue this winter as he will again play basketball for Brunswick Senior.
“November 15th is the first day that we can practice,” he said. “I think we have a pretty good chance of winning the state championship. I play mostly at power forward.”
