UNC To Join, MSU, UCLA & Texas In 2018 Las Vegas Invitational

CHAPEL HILL – The University of North Carolina men’s basketball team will make its third appearance in the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, scheduled for November 22-23, 2018, at Orleans Arena.

Carolina, Michigan State, Texas and UCLA make up the 2018 field in Las Vegas. The Tar Heels won the event in 2007-08 and finished second in 2011-12. UCLA will be making its second appearance in the tournament, while the Spartans and Longhorns are playing in the Las Vegas Invitational for the first time.

FOX Broadcast network and FS1 will present coverage of the two games on Nov. 22 and the championship and consolation games on Nov. 23. FOX Sports runs all aspects of the Continental Tire Las Vegas Invitational, Las Vegas Holiday Invitational, and Las Vegas Classic, ranging from ticket sales, sponsorships, and television production.

Past champions of the Las Vegas Invitational include: Illinois (2005 and 2014), Kansas (2006 and 2010), UNC (2007), Kentucky (2008), Oklahoma State (2009), UNLV (2011), Creighton (2012), UCLA (2013), West Virginia (2015), Butler (2016) and Arizona State (2017).

The Tar Heels will play four games in the Invitational – the first two in Chapel Hill and the final two rounds at Orleans Arena. Orleans Arena is located just west of the Las Vegas strip and was recently named the No. 1 mid-size arena in the USA by Venues Today magazine.

UNC’s campus opponents and the bracket for the Nov. 22 games in Las Vegas will be announced later this summer.
