Bryson Richardson, a 3-star safety from Buford, GA, committed to play football Wednesday afternoon at North Carolina during a visit to Chapel Hill.

Richardson, who is 6-0 and 180 pounds, attends Buford H.S. and has also received offers from West Virginia, Tennessee, Louisville, Minnesota and N.C. State, among others.

“They're an outstanding program,” Richardson recently told THI. “Sometimes people just overlook their football team because they see UNC as a basketball school, but they always produce a lot of talent and make big time bowl games.”

Ranked the No. 38 safety in the class of 2018, Richardson is also ranked the No. 40 prospect overall in the state of Georgia.

Richardson has certainly enjoyed his visits to UNC.

“I've been up to Chapel Hill a few times already so I've got a feel for the campus and facilities,” he said. “I like how everything isn't so spread out. I will be back for the Freak Show Event.”

As for the kind of player the Tar Heels are getting, Richardson is confident he can be a lot of things for Larry Fedora’s program.

“I bring physicality, versatility, preparation and leadership,” he said. “I enjoy flying around the field and making plays.”
