The idea of any college basketball team playing a must-win game before Christmas seems silly on the surface. And it kind of is.

But then again, it really isn’t.

North Carolina, winners of six of its 11 games, and losers in five of its six contests against quality opponents that are currently Quad 1 games, has dug itself into such a hole. With a lot of help from the once-proud ACC.
