Dazz Newsome made North Carolina wait until National Signing Day, but it was worth the wait for the Tar Heels’ staff, as the 3-star athlete announced Wednesday he will attend UNC.

Newsome, who is 5-10, 170 pounds, decommitted from Maryland last month and made several official visits and narrowed his final three schools to Maryland, Virginia and UNC. He chose the Tar Heels.

Newsome also fielded offers from Virginia Tech, Iowa State and Boston College, among others.
