By the time Hope Mills South View lineman Kyndraus Guy was set to make his official announcement on which university he was going to attend, just about everyone in the room knew already where the big guy was headed. Word had already leaked out of his intentions to attend the University of North Carolina.

Guy still wanted to make the celebration of his signing, which was held in the South View media center, a big occasion.
"I am only going to sign with UNC once, so I just wanted to make the day as special as I possibly could," Guy said.
As Guy was signing his Letter of Intent, he was joined at the table by his mother, Kitty Patterson, and his sister, Penyaire Guy. Although Guy waited until the last day to make his announcement, he has known for a while that he wanted to be a Tar Heel.
"I took an unofficial visit last June and I knew from that day forward that I wanted to be a Tar Heel, so this is like dream come true for me," he said.
Guy's high school coach, Randy Ledford, said UNC is getting a special player.
"I have enjoyed coaching Kyndraus for three years, and I think he will be a great asset to the University of North Carolina," Ledford said.
Last season, Guy was mainly used on the offensive line, but once he gets to UNC he projects to play on the defensive side of the ball.
"The coaches have told me that they will try me out at defense first, and just how things progress from there," Guy said.
Ledford believes that Guy will do well whichever side of the football he plays on.
"By being 6-3, 265 pounds, Kyndraus still has plenty of room to grow, so UNC will be able to figure out where he needs to play," said Ledford.
