CHAPEL HILL – North Carolina led Virginia by seven points with less than eight minutes remaining before falling to the Cavaliers, 69-61, on Monday night at the Smith Center.

Carolina trailed by seven at halftime but exploded to a 17-3 run to begin the second half and then forged another seven-point lead with 7:51 remaining. But the Cavaliers closed on a 21-6 run to win the game.

UNC fell to 19-5 overall and 9-2 in the ACC while UVA improved to 21-2 and 9-2.
