North Carolina was heavily involved with Justin McKoy just over two years ago. Before committing to Virginia in April 2019, McKoy described to Tar Heel Illustrated about his talks with the UNC coaching staff.

“(Steve) Robinson called first and asked about me as a person and how I felt about Carolina and how I would fit in,” he told THI at the time. “Roy (Williams) called later that night and talked to me about me, my family, who’s coming in, who’s leaving, and who is staying. (He) talked to me about my game, and how I would fit in the offense. Also trying to figure out a time to go on a visit as well.”
