OT Douglas Had Good Visit

Mallard Creek High School in Charlotte is home to a whole host of Division One football prospects, some of whom are being courted by UNC.
Among them is junior offensive tackle Eric Douglas, a 6-4, 275 pounder who has already been offered by Clemson, South Carolina and N.C. State. Douglas and some of his teammates were at UNC over the weekend for the Tar Heels' 50-14 rout of Wake Forest.

"It went well," Douglas told THI. "I really liked seeing the players and the game was great."
Douglas is no stranger to Chapel Hill. He camped at Carolina over the summer and the connection the school has with the Tar Heels - UNC quarterback Marquise Williams went to Mallard Creek - seemingly makes every prominent player in the program a prospect for the Heels to consider.
A 3-star talent ranked the No. 17 in-state player in the class of 2017, Douglas says two things really stand out about why UNC intrigues him.
"The academics and their record has significantly improved," said Douglas, who is mostly in contact with Gunter Brewer on the Carolina staff.
As Mallard Creek could be on the way to another state championship, Douglas' game also continues to improve. A personal point of emphasis for the offensive tackle this season has been run blocking, which Douglas says he's made progressed considerably, and really overall as a player.
"I feel like my play has excelled from last year," he said.
Douglas says that Penn State and Michigan have increased their contact of late, and along with Duke, Florida State, Wisconsin, Syracuse and Maryland, more and more schools are zeroing in on him.
There is an interesting twist here that could come into play.
"I grew up an Ohio state football fan but my favorite basketball team is UNC," Douglas said.
Douglas wants to get back to UNC again this season, though his next two visits are to N.C. State on Oct. 31 and Clemson on Nov. 7.
